THE ALBANY, PICCADILLY
A private apartment complex covering a tract of land between Piccadilly and Saville Row, this iconic residential mansion was built in the 1770s. A major restoration took place in 2019, completing in the spring of 2020.
THE DRAWING ROOM, VINTNERS HALL
Elements of Vintners Hall predate the Great Fire of London (1666) although the Drawing Room was last altered in 1898. This space provides a striking display area which now houses the Company's outstanding glass collection.
Scheme representation by Timothy Dolby with project completion in 2017.
THE CONVENT, GIBRALTAR
The Convent has been the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar since 1728. The restoration of it's Victorian ballroom was commissioned by Lady Luce, with its unveiling taking place upon the completion of Lord Luce‘s term as British Governor in March 2000.
THE LIVERY HALL, DRAPERS HALL
The Drapers Company is one of the most senior of the 12 Great Livery Companies of the City of London.
Tim Dolby’s design for the restoration of their historic banqueting hall has replaced a scheme which had been in place since the early 1980s.
THE OLD COURT ROOM, SKINNERS HALL
Skinners Hall is a Grade 1 Listed, predominantly Georgian building with later Victorian additions. The Old Court Room dates from the early 1720s and it's restoration in 2013 has enabled the ongoing use of a magnificent early Georgian interior.
Fishmongers Hall has been home to The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers since 1834 and stands on the north side of London Bridge in the heart of the City of London. It was designed by Henry Roberts to reflect the Greek revival manner and is currently grade 11* listed; it's classical simplicity contrasts powerfully with the sheer magnificence of it's grand interior rooms.
In 2017 The Fishmongers' company asked Timothy Dolby to review paint delamitation which was occurring within the historic layers, across multiple areas of the hall. Soft distemper presence was suspected and subsequently confirmed via FTIR paint analysis.
As a result of this information, the Fishmongers' internal governance speedily approved the stripping back of all existing paint layers (to include the original distemper layer) before commissioning Tim Dolby to create a new scheme intended to grace the iconic banqueting hall for the benefit of future generations.
The scheme put before the Fishmongers' Committee accentuates the symmetry and juxtaposition of double and triple coffering which extends across the entirety of the banqueting hall's ceiling. Utilising a palette of warmer blues and stone colours and incorporating significant highlight gilding in 23 3/4c gold, this scheme is a monumental upgrade on the previous, somewhat over-gilded design and returns the hall to a more authentic vision which is altogether closer to the original Greek revival spirit seen in it's early Victorian heyday.
The design gained immediate traction with Historic England, before receiving an equally enthusiastic approval from the internal governing Committees responsible for the hall.
The site project - managed by CBRE - began with the wholesale removal of existent paint layers before continuing through the summer of 2017 to conclude with the decoration element some twelve weeks later. A subsequent phase of detailing and gilding took place during a four week project over the Christmas closure period. The Banqueting Hall was opened to great acclaim in January 2018 and other adjoining rooms are now in the latter stages of development and representation
